Fairy Run - Sat 18 Dec
The 2004 Fairy Run handicap race, on Saturday 18th December will again start and finish at the RSPB Headquarters in Sandy on Potton Road. Car parking will be as normal at the end of the drive into the main RSPB car park, about 600 meters after the entrance and shop. Please be at the car park for 10am .
The junior handicap run (1 mile) will start at 10.15am and the senior handicap run (3 miles) will start at 10.30am. Fairy costumes are optional for the race, but could improve your handicap. Please let Damien know (01767 227589 or damien.pitts@ntlworld.com) if you plan on doing the run, so that he can calculate your handicap.
After the run, everyone is welcome at the William Peel PH (opposite St Swithun's Church) in Sandy for drinks and a small buffet. Late in the afternoon, we will be visiting a few PH in Potton and Everton before heading back to Sandy.
... and the Three Counties Cross Country, Letchworth
The day after the Fairies run is the next Three Counties Cross Country race at Letchworth. To ensure that we enjoy ourselves the day before and to make sure that we have a good turnout at this race as well, Damien has booked a 14 seater minibus to take us to Letchworth. As there are only 14 seats available, please let Damien know as soon as possible if you would like to be on the minibus. Collection points will be sorted out nearer the time, as this will depend on who will be in the minibus. The cost per head for the minibus will be £5.00, if we can fill the minibus.
Club Membership - Annual Subscriptions
Please don't forget that annual subscriptions become due on 1st January 2005. Membership is still only £12 for seniors and £5 for juniors. Second Claim membership costs £7. Prompt payment would be very much appreciated. Don't forget it is a Club Rule that you may not compete for the Club after 31st January if your subscription has not been renewed .
Christmas Holiday Training
Our annual winter run along the Kingfisher Way is planned for Tuesday 28th December. The Kingfisher Way is a 21 Mile footpath that follows the River Ivel from Baldock to Tempsford. For those that would prefer to run a shorter distance, you have the option of finishing at Biggleswade (12 miles) or Sandy (16 miles). Shared transport to Baldock, with pickup points at Tempsford, Sandy and Biggleswade, will be arranged. Please talk to Nigel Bush (01767 682251) if interested.
Sandy 10 - Sunday 3rd April
Planning has now started for next year's Sandy 10 mile road race - organised by the club. This will be the 22nd running of the race and we hope to make it the biggest event yet. As in previous years, we hope that club members will support us on race day, acting as marshals, drink station helpers, baggage handlers, etc. More details will be published in next months Newsletter.
All feedback is greatly appreciated. Please speak to Gavin or anyone on the committee. Also any ideas you would like incorporated into the programme please let them know.
