    Annual General Meeting
Tuesday 21 March at Sandy Upper School

The AGM is a very important event in the life of the club and provides the opportunity for members to make their own views known about how the club is being run, and to make suggestions for the future.  It is also the time when the new committee is elected.  Please make every effort to attend (only paid up members over the age of 17 may vote at an AGM).

If you wish to nominate any member to serve on the committee this must be done in writing with the agreement of the person concerned, and supported by one other club member.  Such nominations should be sent to Stuart Galloway, by7th March at the latest.  Prior nominations in writing take precedence over nominations on the evening.  Most of the existing members of the committee are willing to stand again, although Jan Forrester, our current Lady Captain, has decided to step down from the post after many years support to the Club.  We shall miss her and wish her well, although she will be staying on as a member.

If you have any items that you would like added to the Agenda of the AGM, then please let Stuart Galloway know the details by 7th March at the latest.

Sandy 10 Road Race and 2 Mile Fun Run- 26 March

Entries for this year's Sandy 10 mile road race are flooding in, suggesting that this will be the biggest field in the 23 year history of the race, with up to 500 runners expected.  As in previous years, we are asking club members to help us on race day, acting as marshals, car park attendants, drink station helpers, baggage handlers, etc.  Please contact Nigel Bush or Gavin Elliott if you are able to help.

Entry to the 2 mile Fun Run is free, with entries "on the day" only.  So if you have any family members or friends who feel that they could run or jog 2 miles, why not encourage them to enter the Fun Run.  Runners must be 11 years and over.

    Schools cross-country relays
Thurs 9 Mar at Rowney Warren, 3pm

Entries are rolling in and we confidently expect a field of 300+.  We need as much help as we can get, if you are able to help out please let Ken, David or Gavin know.  Remember to bring your ear-plugs !

Annual Club Dinner and Presentation Evening

    NEXT MONTH:

Kingfisher Way Training Run - Sat 31 Dec

A record number of 22 runners turned out for the annual winter pilgrimage along the 21 mile Kingfisher Way.  10 runners started in Baldock, the source of the River Ivel, with Lindsey and Tan intending to run as far as possible given their recent lack of training and injury problems.  Newcomer Catherine from the RSPB Running Association also joined us.  Tan made it as far as Arlesey, and Lindsey made it all the way to Biggleswade (12.5m) to record his longest run ever.

In places the footpath was muddy and slippery from the recent snow and rain, but a good pace was maintained, with everyone keeping together.  On reaching Biggleswade, the incoming runners were met by the welcome sight of 10 more runners who joined them to run the final 8 miles to Tempsford.  What a turnout!  Later, Stuart met us just south of Sandy, and finally Penny joined in at the Girtford Bridge.

Twenty runners finally arrived at Tempsford, 3hrs 57mins after leaving Baldock, for a well earned drink in the Wheatsheaf pub.  Congratulations to everyone who took part. It was a very enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning.

Runners: Chris, Neil, Gav, Simon, Roger, Debs, Tan, Lindsey, Catherine (RSPB), Nigel, Mark, Elaine, Julie, Ray, Lee, Andy (Riverside), Paula, Jen, Nat, Nat's man, Stu, Penny.
