Club Dinner - Friday 11th January, 7.30pm for 8.00pm at the Green Man in Stanford (near Shefford)

Many of you have already let Stuart Galloway know that you wish to come along to this event (25 places have been booked so far).   If you have not done so and wish to come, please let Stuart know by 6th January so that the restaurant can be advised of actual numbers.   It should be a good evening so do try and make it - we shall be presenting the Club Trophies.   Stuart's telephone number is 01767-223942

Annual Subscriptions

Don't forget that Annual Subscriptions became due on 1st January - £12 for those of 17 years and over and £5 for all Juniors.   Please pay Chris Clarke, Stuart Galloway, or any Committee member, cheques to be made out to "Biggleswade AC"

Queen's Jubilee Celebrations (Week of 2 June)

We are in the early days of considering an event (or events) that the Club could stage for these celebrations - we shall be liasing with the Town Council.   We had thought about some races in the Town (especially if the police are agreeable) but any ideas from members would be greatly appreciated.

Christmas Handicap / Fairy Run

Thanks to all those who came along to take part in, and support, the Christmas Handicap races on Saturday 22nd December at the RSPB.   We had a record number of 23 taking part in the senior race, with many Outstanding fairy outfits.   The eats and drinks in the Sir William Peel were enjoyed by all - thanks to Stuart for arranging this.   And the "extended" Fairy Run to Potton and Everton proved to be very popular with 10 Fairies setting off from Sandy - rumour has it that only 7 made it back to the Thornton Arms in Everton, so we will be looking to reduce the number of non-finishers next year by introducing more stringent training methods!   The Biggleswade Chronicle of 28 Dec has a report, and colour photos of our fairies.

Trails through the RSPB land

Please note when running through the RSPB at Sandy that there is only one Right of Way:

the Bridleway that leads from the main entrance on the Sandy-Potton Road (next to the RSPB Shop), to the far southern end at the bottom of the hill where the path meets the end of Stratford Road.
All other paths and trails on the RSBP land are private, for use by RSPB visitors who have signed in.   Please do not deviate from the Bridleway, especially onto the Heath path that leads off to the right as you enter the Bridleway from Stratford Road.

London Marathon Places

A sub-committee met before Christmas to discuss the applications from six Club members for the two London Marathon Club places.   The decision of that committee was based upon the applicants' support to the Club, previous allocations, and personal circumstances.   The places were allocated to Graham Brown and Jan Forrester.   Best of luck to Graham and Jan in their training and commiserations to those to whom we, unfortunately, could not give a place.
