Annual Club Dinner and Senior Presentation evening
The Green Man, Stanford, Fri 23 Jan

It is not long till this event - so far over 35 people have said they would like to attend the evening at The Green Man.  If you would like to come along to what is always a very pleasurable and sociable evening, then please let Stuart Galloway know as soon as possible, preferably by e-mail (stuart.galloway@ntlworld.com).  All the details are on the Forum.

Annual General Meeting - Tue 17 Feb

This important event in the life of the Club will be held in the Classroom of the Future at Sandy Upper School.  Please put the date in your diaries and try and attend - we would love to see you there.  The AGM of any club or group is an opportunity for the membership to let the committee know how they feel things are being run, and more importantly to make suggestions as to what they would like to see implemented in the future.  If you would like an item added to the agenda for discussion at the meeting then please let Stuart Galloway know by 26th January.  The Agenda will be published in the next Newsletter.

    Annual Subscriptions

Annual Subscriptions fall due on 1st January and we would really appreciate it if you could pay the appropriate amount as soon as possible after that date, but before the end of January.
    Rates for 2009 are:
Senior Member  £22  (£17 + £5 affiliation fee to England Athletics)
Junior Member  £12  (£7 + £5 affiliation fee to England Athletics)
Second-claim member  £9  (affiliation will be made through first-claim club)

This year we are introducing a scheme whereby members can pay their dues by electronic money transfer.  So if you are into internet or postal banking you can simply transfer the appropriate sum to the club bank account.  Account details are:
     Bank Sort Code:  20-41-12
     Account No.:  10889148
     Account Name:  Biggleswade Athletic Club
However, please ensure that you include your name in the transfer Reference Box so we can tell who's paid.  Membership cards will be sent out at the end of each month.  Alternatively you could set up a Bankers Order and pay the amount automatically annually.  Again please include your name in the Reference Box.

London Marathon 2009 - Club Places

The lucky winners of the London Marathon club places in the draw made after the annual Handicap Run in the Sir William Peel were Julia Mackay, Derek Litchfield, and Sarah Geeson-Orsgood.  Commiserations go to Julie Sutton who was the one unlucky entrant in the draw.  Best of luck to all who are training for the Marathon.

    Club Half Marathon Championship

15 club members took part in our last Club Championship race of 2008, at the Beds Harriers Half Marathon.  Well done to everyone who competed, and congratulations to Julie Sutton and Ian Skerratt for winning the trophies, based on age-graded times.  Details are in the Results section
