Queen's Jubilee Celebrations Races - 7:00pm Tuesday 4th June

We have arranged to hold some Trail Runs on 4th June to help celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.   There will be a 5 Mile, a 4.5 Km, and a 1 Mile race.   All age groups can take part.   Do try and come along and bring some friends.   All races will start from the Stratton Recreational Centre site.   A specially struck Golden Jubilee Medal will be presented to all finishers.   Entry Forms are available from any Club official, or from the Club website (www.biggleswadeAC.org.uk/jubilee.doc).

We would also love to hear from anybody who can help out on the day.

Sports Day at Fairfield - 13th July

Des Ball and Richard Glover are in the process of organising this event which will comprise a full athletics meeting along with Cycle Races, at Fairfeld in Biggleswade.   Any help on the day would be appreciated by the organisers.   Please let Des know on 01767-313790 if you can help.

Navigators Way training Runs - provisional dates for May and June

We plan to run the Navigators Way - a 7 mile circular scenic route starting and finishing in Shefford - on the following Tuesday Club Training nights (these runs will replace the normal Tuesday training runs at Stratton):
    Tuesday 14th May
    Tuesday 18th June
We meet at the Car Park next to the River Bridge at 7pm.   Please check with Nigel (01767 682251) for confirmation of the these dates.

Die Brüder Grimm - 7th to 9th June

Roger Wadeley, Nigel Bush, and Stuart Galloway are flying to Germany in early June (with their dear ladies) to take part in a 2½ day event of about 50 miles, arranged through our twin town athletic friends in Erlensee, the Hanauer Lauftreff.   The stay is from Thursday until Monday and everybody is very well looked after in local peoples homes.   The event is split into five stages (based on the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm) of about 10 miles each.   The first stage is run on Friday evening, two are run on the Saturday, and two on the Sunday.

If you are interested in taking part in this event next year, then let Stuart Galloway know on 01767-223942.   (It actually may not be too late to take part this year if you are quick to let Stuart know).   It is serious running but with a fantastic social atmosphere.

Members' Record Times

A few of you have sent in details of your record times - a good start, but more would be appreciated.

Watford Harriers Open Graded Meetings

There is a series of Open Graded Meetings at Woodside Stadium (Watford) on Wednesday evenings for those aged 13 and over, on 24th April, 8th May, 22nd May, and 5th June. Details are on their website: www.watfordathletics.co.uk/

League Season

We are approaching the league season now, and league events are somewhat different in that TEAM EFFORT counts as well as individual results.   If the team sheet is filled then we will get more points, league points and match points.  Every athlete can compete in 3 events, but events missed are points lost on the day.   Scoring is 5 for a 1st, 4 for a 2nd etc in A and B strings.

Southern League Men's Events:

County Championships   12th May

The County Secretary has requested assistance, any help on the day would be greatly appreciated by the County and the competing athletes, contact David Brown with any offers of help.
