Fairy Run - Sat 20 Dec

Wings, wands and the wonder - just a few of the ingredients that make up the Annual Biggleswade AC Fairy Run.  Some have seen the mist, others have missed the scene!  But to be a part of this amazing event will make you wonder why you didn't join Biggleswade Athletic Club years ago and strap some fairy wings to your back for the day.

Typically run on the last Saturday before Christmas, this years run will take place on Saturday 20th December 2008 meeting at The Lodge car park within the Sandy RSPB.  The run starts at 10am for the Juniors and 10.30am for the Seniors.  Please note this run is a closed event and only open to members of Biggleswade AC.

Check out the Fairy Run page on the website for more details, not to mention the Fairy Run discussion on the Forum

Get your fairy wings...

Why not pop along to Let's Party (www.letspartybiggleswade.co.uk) in Saffron Road, Biggleswade, where club members can now get 10% off all his or her fairy needs, upon production of your current club membership card (please note, fairy dust is not a valid currency in this shop).

If, however, you can't find the right colour wings to match your outfit, or you are looking for a co-ordinated wand and tiara set, then Let's Party will try to find one for you, providing you give them a couple of weeks notice.

Monday Night Training...

... has restarted at Biggleswade's Recreation Centre - circuit and conditioning for Senior athletes, Sportshall for juniors - 6:00pm till 7:00pm.

Do you have Club photos to share?

Adult Club members may submit their photos to bacphotos@googlemail.com

Junior members wishing to submit their photos should email them to our Child Protection Officer, Zoe Dawson, at zoedawson74@hotmail.com

We still do not have any photos of the recent Junior Presentation/Disco and would love some for the club photo archives.

Kingfisher Way training run - Winter Edition - Sun 28 Dec

This year's "winter" Kingfisher Way training run is planned for Sunday 28th December.  For those not familiar with the Kingfisher Way, it is a 21 mile footpath that follows the River Ivel from its source in Baldock, to its confluence with the River Ouse at Tempsford.  Those wishing to run part of the route can join or leave at points along the way such as Langford, Biggleswade and Sandy.  At the finish we normally partake in some refreshments at the Wheatsheaf in Tempsford.

London Marathon 2009 - Club Places

Each year, in November/December, the club receive a number of "club" entries to the London Marathon.  Typically this is either 2 or 3 places.  The following guidelines are used to select those club members to receive the "club" entries.

A set of four criteria are defined below.  A club member who wishes to be considered for a "club" place in the Marathon should meet all four criteria.  But you can still enter your name if you do not meet ALL four criteria, in case all the places are not taken by those who do meet all four criteria.

Criteria:

  • In receipt of a rejection slip from the London marathon ballot
  • A member of the club for at least 12 months at the time of the ballot
  • Must be a 1st claim member of Biggleswade AC
  • Has not received a London Marathon "club" place in the previous 3 years

The names will be placed into a hat on a Tuesday club night.  The date will be notified at least 2 weeks in advance to all members.  Names are drawn out.  Ownership of the entry then passes to the club member.

If, after the draw is made, there is still one or more London Marathon places un-allocated, the Committee will make a decision as to who gets the remaining place(s).  The committee's decision may be based on the criteria that the individuals have met, or other factors eg participation in club league races; assistance with club organised events.

    Ken says:
    Christmas is coming...

...and our kit suppliers get over-run with orders.  Please order T-shirts, jackets, sweatshirts etc early as delivery times inevitably get longer.  Ken usually ends up delivering ordered items on Christmas eve, and, sadly, some after Christmas too.

There are still a few Biggleswade Athletic Club kit bags left in stock.  They have a pouch at the bottom to hold shoes or dirty clothes.  They are also very difficult to lose on luggage carousels !

    Club Kit -
    vests, shorts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets
    and Club kit bags
can all be ordered from Ken Prior
