    BE  FIT  NOT  FLAT

As the nights draw in, please remember to wear your hi-vis vests.  Drivers do not expect 30+ highly trained athletes to be out running all at once on a Tuesday or Thursday evening.

    Club Website Social Page

Don't forget to check out the social page on the website, at www.biggleswadeac.org.uk/Social.html.  As the festive period creeps slowly towards us, many new and exciting social activites are planned.
    Currently listed are:

  • a trip to the Comedy Store in London on Saturday 14th October, for Paula and Giles' birthday
  • the London Fancy Dress Phenomenon on Saturday 9th December
  • details of the 2006 Fairy Run on Saturday 23rd December

Kingfisher Way training run - Sun 6 Aug

17 runners took part in the Kingfisher Way training run, on a typically hot (for 2006) Summer's day.  Nine runners, including guest Kim from Cambridge and Coleridge club, started from Baldock at a cracking pace.  Arlesey bridge was reached in just over one hour, where Sarah and Mark joined in the fun.

When the group reached Biggleswade, Neil, Paula, Jen and Julie joined, with Anne and Sharyn joining at Sandy.  The finish was reached in an overall time of 3h 30m; a pretty fast time considering the hot conditions.  Well done to all those who took part, and to those who resisted the temptation to jump into the river to cool off.

When we repeat the run in December (provisional date 27th Dec) we can guarantee cooler temperatures.

    Three Counties Cross Country race
Shuttleworth College - Sunday 12 November

We are organising this event at Shuttleworth. College, and we will need help early in the morning to mark the course.  For those not intending to run in the race, we also need help with the refreshments and marshalling the course.
Please contact Neil, Nigel or Stuart with offers of help.

    Annual Rounders Match

Biggleswade AC Juniors - 10         Biggleswade AC Seniors - 7½

On Tuesday 22nd August the annual Rounders Match took place between the Juniors and the Seniors of Biggleswade Athletic Club to celebrate the achievements of the track and field athletes over the summer months.

After three years of consecutive wins the Seniors entered the field of play with a spring in their step hoping that the game would go the same but the game did not go to the script.

The juniors were put into bat and were soon making the seniors scamper all over the field.  As hard as the bowler (Tim "Hans" Huxtable) tried the juniors soon where collecting rounders due to some very shameful fielding by Damien Pitts and Debbie Bryant.  Substitute Lins Morgan was brought in the shore up the fielding and slowly the seniors luck changed with Damien finally catching superbly and Debbie actually stumping someone out.

The seniors finally went into bat but due to some very tactical play by Megan Day, some very early catches leading to a first ball dismissal of Paula Dawson the seniors crumbled.

All competitors then consumed a sumptuous barbeque cooked to perfection by some of the committee members.
