Southern Womens League, Luton, 11 Sep

Biggleswade AC are the main hosts for this home fixture.  As well as needing a large turn out (all 4 teams are just above mid table), we also need a full quota of officials, an announcer, scorer and marksman.  Also catering facilities are not accessible, we can earn some funds for the club by selling teas, cakes, sandwiches, etc, we need helpers for this task also.

    10 Mile Club Championship Race

Don't forget that the Club's 10 Mile Championship race is on Sunday 26th September at the Leighton Buzzard 10.  See Neil for an Entry Form, or go to the website www.freewebs.com/lbac/LB10_2004_entry_form.doc

Club Trip to Reims France. 16-18 Oct

There are still three places left on the Minibus for our club trip to Reims, so if you were thinking about coming along, now is your chance to make up your mind and go for it.  You don't have to run in either race (10Km and Half Marathon races on Sunday 17th), you can come along as a supporter and enjoy the weekend sightseeing in this beautiful wine growing area of northern France.  Let Nigel know as soon as possible (01767 682251).

The Tuesday Night Programme - September and October

Many of the activities are tailored to get everyone ready for this years cross-country season.  With the club growing in such a way as it is with new people coming along nearly every two weeks the group system will be used more and more.  (Group 1 being the new group and group 3 currently being the fastest).  Hopefully there is enough here to keep everyone interested.

*** Remember to keep an eye on the website ***
Dates will soon be appearing for weekend training sessions if required
**** And the "Beep Test" ******

The Thursday evening programme will continue to be decided on a week to week basis depending on ability groups and racing programme, but if you know of any other interesting routes in or around Sandy please let me know!!

7th Sep    Handicap run (in preparation for the Fairy Run) - Lead by Damo
14th Sep    Rowney Warren - a taste of cross country - Team Leader Stuart
21st Sep    Speed work with Steve
28th Sep    Away day - Bedford - Team Leader Damo
5th Oct    Inclines (otherwise known as Hill work)
Using Brickhill Road then Ivel View (street lighting is good)
12th Oct    Cross training with Kat
19th Oct    Sunderland Road / London Road / Bedford Road loop
26th Oct    Speed work with Steve
2nd Nov    Away day - Team leader and venue TBA
(to celebrate our first cross country race of the season)
(NB: The Thursday evening programme is decided on a week to week basis depending on ability groups and racing programme.)

    New Athletic Track

We have now been told that the construction of the track will not begin until Spring 2005.  After the efforts of a lot of people this is very disappointing news, and highlights a distinct lack of organisation and efficiency within local government.

    Congratulations....

...to Gavin and Ann Elliott on the birth a baby boy, Miles Radcliffe.  We suspect that his names may have something to do with a certain very famous athlete from our area who has been known to pound the roads quite a bit!  He will also be able to say in later years that he was around to see Kelly Holmes do the double.
