Track and Field Awards Evening, with the Junior Awards – 6pm Sun 16 Oct

The junior awards, as well as the senior and veteran track and field awards, will be presented at a special evening at the dining hall at Sandy Upper School.  It will follow on from the end of the 60 at 60 relay.  We hope that the bar will be open and light food will be provided.  There will be no charge but please let one of the committee know if you are coming to help us gauge numbers.

Please check the time closer to the event

    Biggleswade AC 60th Anniversary Celebration

About 150 members, former members and family attended the club’s 60th Anniversary celebrations on 21st August and it proved to be a great success.  The morning events saw about 14 runners take part in the “how many laps can you run in 60 minutes” event, whilst many more were seeking out the hidden clues in Lee’s Treasure Hunt.  The turbo target throw was won by joint winners Josh Watson and Alice Middleton, while and the Decimetre jump competition was won by Georgina Sexton.

By 1pm the sun came out for a beautiful warm afternoon and the guests enjoyed the succulent Hog Roast and trimmings.  Many former members from the 1980s and 90’s were present and thoroughly enjoyed the chance to relive former glories and reminisce by looking at the memorabilia and slideshow.  After lunch, those that still had energy to burn, took part in the hilarious 60metre 6-legged race followed by the 6 x 100m relay for all family members to run.

It proved to be a worthy celebration of the club’s history and achievements, and many thanks to those who helped plan and organise the event.

Three Counties Cross Country at Shuttleworth Park – Sunday 13th November

After a break of about 4 years, our club are once again hosting a Three Counties Cross Country league race at Shuttleworth Park on Sunday 13th November.  This is the 2nd race in the 5 race series throughout the winter months.  Please put the date in your diaries as we will need some non-running helpers on the day, but we also need a good turnout of runners for our “home” race.

    ClubMark

The renewal of our Clubmark registration is now nearly complete and we hope to hear of a positive outcome sometime in early October.

    Administration of the Track

The administration of the Track continues to go well.  We have had quite a few bookings from other Clubs and Groups and our running costs have turned out to be remarkably low so far.  However, it must be remembered that the Club is now responsible for the cost of any repairs or equipment replacement.  We are continuing to monitor the situation very closely.

    New Trophies

The Club has purchased four new trophies to be presented annually to those athletes who performed the best in the Eastern Vets League and the Southern Athletic League.
