Stalwart of Biggleswade athletics passes aged 96
We at Biggleswade AC are saddened by the recent passing of Des Ball, one of the club's founding members. The club was formed in 1951 to continue the activities of the Athletic and Grass Track Cycle Racing Meeting which had been held under the auspices of the old Biggleswade Horticultural Society from the early 1900s. Following its formation, Des worked tirelessly for the club for 50 years and without Des’s hard work, loyalty and commitment the club would have probably not survived through the 1970s and 80s. His legacy lives on through the hundreds of athletes that have since had the opportunity to participate in athletics at Biggleswade AC for over 70 years.
