The final race of the Three Counties Cross Country League took place in Dunstable last weekend, with 13 runners out representing Biggleswade Athletic Club. Although a change in HQ and start location, elements of the course from previous years remained – including the intimidatingly-named climb ‘The Beast’! This did not deter the mighty blue and yellows, however, who took on the hilly challenge valiantly to place 13th overall.
In terms of the final League position, the BAC Women came 9th and the Men 14th to achieve a combined team placing of 12th. Age category prizes were also awarded to Nicky Upperton for her first place in the 30-34 group and Ian Grimwood for his 2nd place in the 70-74 group. A fantastic achievement by both runners.

The League runs every year commencing in October and consists of five events, usually with the last event occurring in February. All races are off-road and routes typically take in some lovely countryside (and maybe a few hills) across Bedfordshire and neighbouring counties. It’s a fun, social League solely based on your finishing position rather than time, and with refreshments served following each race as a reward. Still to go is the last race of the Chiltern Cross Country League for our Juniors on 10th February at Horspath, Oxford. Good luck!
