This past Bank Holiday weekend saw the second Biggleswade 'Run the Wade 5k' take place on Sunday 25th May. The inaugural event last year had proved to be extremely popular and this year's race was no exception with all 500 entries sold. Due to the numbers, runners were set off in waves this time from the Market Square to follow the course out to Jordan's Mill taking in part of the town's Green Wheel route and finishing back at the Square.
With it being such a local race, Biggleswade Athletic Club had a good turnout with 19 members participating from across both the Junior and Senior sections. Once again, BAC came away with several top 3 age category placings - most notably Debs Bryant who secured another first Female V55 and retaining the accolade from last year. Second placings were achieved by Ian Payne in Male V45 category and Will Ramsey in Male V40 category. Kyle Hill was third in MU17, Martin Rutherford MV45 and Colin Harries M70+. Well done all! Another recent 5k which saw Biggleswade AC putting in a showing was the Marston Vale Forest 5k on Friday 6th June. Hosted by Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers, this off-road race follows the trail paths of Marston Vale Millennium Country Park and is a fast, flat course so lots of PB potential. Indeed, one to come away with PB on the night was member Bev Strong with her a time of 32:05 - congratulations Bev!
