Cross Country 2025/26 – dates for the diary
Good news for Biggleswade AC runners seeking a fresh challenge after a long hot summer of racing on flat tracks and hard roads – the cross country season with its myriad delights of mud, rain, snow, ice, hills and more mud is nearly here!
BAC will again be competing in two regional cross country leagues through the coming 2025/26 season – the Chiltern and the Three Counties. Anyone interested in joining the BAC team for either of those leagues should flag up their interest to a club official over the next few weeks.
The Chiltern XC League comprises around 40 clubs from across Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire competing in two divisions. There are five meetings, with races for all age groups from U-11 to seniors. It is the main XC league competition for our junior track athletes.
The Three Counties XC League comprises 14 running clubs in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire who compete in a series of five races, each hosted by one of the league clubs and run under the rules of the Association of Running Clubs (ARC). The minimum age for participation is 17. It is the main XC league competition for a lot of our senior road-running members.
In addition to the two leagues, a number of BAC members usually enter – or are selected for − various county, regional and national XC championships. See below for a list of many of those events, including the Bedfordshire County XC Championships at Southill on Saturday January 3, 2026, which will be hosted by Biggleswade AC.
