Final Chiltern Cross Country League Race

Final Chiltern Cross Country League Race

Seven Junior members of Biggleswade Athletic Club slogged their way through deep mud to produce some very good runs in the fifth and final match of the 2023/24 season Chiltern Cross Country League series held at Horspath, Oxford, on February 10.

In the Division 2 U-15 Boys race, Oliver Weddell (8th), Sidney Hammond (9th) and Henry Knox (12th) combined to achieve a notable third-place finish for Biggleswade in the team table. The same three runners also enabled Biggleswade to achieve a noteworthy fourth place over the five-race series. In addition, Oliver and Sidney ran the necessary four races to achieve an individual ranking for the overall Division 2 U-15 Boys series, with the former finishing 4th and the latter 8th.

Biggleswade’s other two runners at Horspath also produced good performances in their respective Division 2 races. Lauren Bone finished 8th in the Girls U-13 race and also competed in enough races to secure a creditable 5th place individual ranking for the series, steering Biggleswade to fourth in the team table. Meanwhile, Austin Milner finished 9th in the Boys U-13 race with another strong run.

In the U-11 Boys race, Theo Milner (6th) and Ross Bone (8th) pushed Biggleswade into 9th (out of 15 scoring clubs) in the team table.

In addition to the runners listed above, other BAC junior members who successfully competed in one or more of the earlier Chiltern XC League matches include Nathania Lewis and Ariana Lewis (U-11 Girls); Alexandros Chan Koston and Lewis Evans (U-11 Boys).

The Chiltern Cross Country League is contested by clubs from Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire.
