Kishan Modi Unleashes Powerhouse Finish for Sub-1:28 Leicester Half Marathon

Biggleswade Athletics Club runner, Kishan Modi broke the 90 minute barrier with a finish time of 1 hour, 27 minutes, and 55 seconds (1:27:55). Kishan spoke of his performance:

My run was defined by a calculated start and a surge in the final five kilometers, proving the mantra: "The race starts at kilometer 16." I showcased the effectiveness of a negative split strategy—running the second half faster than the first. Because I conserved my energy early on I was able to drop my pace when most competitors were fading.

The Split Breakdown:  • 1-10 km (The Opener): I took a controlled approach, maintaining a solid pace of 4:15 /km This patient start was crucial for the later surge. • 10-16 km (The Transition): I was able to hold a strong, consistent rhythm through the middle miles, locking in a pace of 4:15 • 16-21.1 km (The Finish Line Push): This is where I started to surge and dropped my average pace to 3:57 /km for the final 5.1km. This  effort is equivalent to running a 5 km in just 19 minutes and 45 seconds which I was incredibly proud to perform at the end of a half marathon. I hope the patience and meticulous pacing shown here can inspire others at BAC plan their races to unlock their peak distance running performance.
