Lauren runs in the Mini London Marathon
BAC Junior Lauren Bone had an exciting weekend taking part in this year’s TCS Mini London Marathon championships (for young athletes in the U-13, U-15 and U-17 age categories) on Saturday April 26.
Lauren, who finished 118th in a field of 220 athletes for her race over 2.6K, was selected to run for the Eastern region team in that event after winning the U-15G title at the 2024/25 Bedfordshire AAA County Cross Country Championships held in Milton Keynes last December.
In addition to the race itself, Lauren and the other runners travelled by coach to the Mini London Marathon athletes’ hotel on the Friday before race day where after a team dinner they had the opportunity to meet and have a Q&A session with Irish athlete Ciara Mageean, a former Mini Marathon winner and the 2024 European women’s 1500m champion. They were then bussed to the start of the Mini Marathon on Saturday morning.
The TCS Mini London Marathon championships has given the UK’s most promising young athletes the chance to compete against the best new talent in British road running.
Over the years, the event has launched the careers of international athletics stars including Laura Muir, Keely Hodgkinson and Josh Kerr – not to mention Sir Mo Farah, who won the Mini Marathon three times.
