U11 Boys team headline for BAC at Chiltern League match
Biggleswade AC’s U11 Boys team were the headline act for the club at this month’s Chiltern Cross Country League match in Cassiobury Park, Watford, on Saturday January 10.
Injuries and other athletics commitments meant BAC fielded a depleted squad of just seven runners for the meeting but those who did compete produced some fine performances.
BAC’s biggest representation was in the U11B race where the great competition between Nathan Cornwall and Ben Morris in recent XC races helped drive both to again achieve top three finishes. Nathan just had the edge this time, finishing 2nd, while Ben was 3rd, with both given the same time! Jacob Hegarty-Powell was the third of BAC’s three team scorers with a fine 34th place (of 76 runners) to help the team finish a great 2nd of 18 scoring teams on the day. Teddy Warren added further depth to the U11B squad with a good run to finish 56th.
BAC’s three other runners at Watford all produced solid runs. In the U13B race, Theo Milner was 28th overall (of 72) and 6th of 12 in Division 2; in the U15G race, Lauren Bone was 19th overall (of 61) and 5th of 15 in Division 2; and in the U15B race, Austin Milner, in his first XC season as an U15, was 44th overall (of 79) and 11th of 19 in Division 2.
Clubs from Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire compete in the Chiltern League which is organised into two divisions (except for U-11s), with all runners competing in the same races at the same venues. Scoring is done separately for each division. BAC compete in Division 2.
●This season’s final Chiltern League match will be at Stopsley Park, Luton, on Saturday February 7. It would be great to finish the season with a bang by fielding as big a squad as possible. If you would like to be part of that squad, please contact team manager Alison Bone to let her know your availability.
